These photos were taken in 2010. I thought I had already posted a blog, but for some reason I did not.
A lot of the items shown in the photos below are no longer in the garden of Prospect Cottage, which to me, is a great shame, as I am sure they were the reason Derek Jarman's garden was so famous.
The Writing on the Wall.
The words are from a poem by John Donne, called 'The Sun Rising'
The back of the cottage
Everywhere you looked back in 2010 there was something interesting to look at :)
All sorts of amazing items
A fish skeleton made from driftwood.
A rocket
We think this represents a wishing well, with the pennies and fish in it?
Sailing boats
This shows some of the 'cargo' of the boat shown below :)
Boat with cargo.
Stone plaques dotted round the garden
Play on words
An insect of some sort
Crufts :)
An owl face with beak and eyes made up of other owls.
Sea glass
Another Owl :)
Looks a bit like a dinosaur?
Rows of bottles on a plank......
The Time Clock, this was one of my favourites, there are a few close ups a few photos down!
The Time Clock again, every slate has quotes about Time on them :)
Amazing :)
So many sayings, it must have taken a long time to make.
Read the label!!!! LOL
The Millenium Dome, complete with a bug inside. This refers to the fact that in 1999, it was thought that there might be a Millenium Bug which was going to take down all the computer systems at the start of the year 2000. Luckily it didn't happen.
Sea glass
Messages in bottles :)
As I said above it is a great shame that most of these items have now disappeared, there are a few bits still in the garden, but I am so pleased that we saw the garden when we did. Maybe sometime in the future some of the items might re-appear, but it seems that they never were meant to be permanent, simply Derek Jarman enjoying using things he found near his home.
