2008 The White Mill Sandwich Kent

PLEASE NOTE, THESE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN IN 2008.
Since these photos were taken the Windmill has undergone extensive restoration. The cap was replaced a few years ago, and very recently the sails have been replaced and re-installed, a fantastic outcome for the windmill and the many people (many of them volunteers) involved in the restoration process.

The Mill was built in 1760, and a lot of the original machinery is still in the Mill. I am not sure why the sails were decorated with flags in 2008, but it was lovely to see :)

Photo taken from a small window as we were climbing up the building.

The very top of the windmill, inside the cap. Wonderful to see :)

Wooden cogs, amazing.

My lovely son (now all grown up!) thoroughly enjoying his visit :)

More photos of the amazing cogs which must have spent many years working the Mill

Those beautiful sails again. I haven't had the chance to visit the Mill since the new sails have been installed. When I do get out there I will share the photos with you all.

It is so lovely to see these beautiful old buildings being cared for, this is a lovely place to visit if you ever get the chance.

The next blog will cover the buildings on the site, the Millers Cottage which houses the Museum, the Blacksmiths workshop plus much more :)
