Flower Festival, St Mary The Blessed Virgin, Woodnesborough, Kent

Looking towards the Altar

The colourful children’s area.

Flowers round the pulpit.

Back in May my friend and I spent a lovely afternoon at the Flower Festival held in St Mary The Blessed Virgin Church in Woodnesborough, which is a small village near Sandwich. I have seen the Church on many occasions but have never had the chance to have a look round or take photos, and, as both my friend and I enjoy Flower Festivals in beautiful surroundings we had a lovely afternoon.

We loved this teapot Smile

Just lovely Smile

The beautiful embroidered and quilted Altar cloth.

The Church is surrounded by trees on top of a small hill, it was built in 1180 on the top of Woden’s Hill, which is where the name of the village came from.

Theses crosses were carved into the pillars by pilgrims making their way to the Thomas a Becket shrine in Canterbury.

Another amazing roof.

One of the window displays.

A lovely sight while we were having out tea and scone Smile

Going through the main door we were met with a beautiful, colourful sight. The church is lovely, and was beautifully enhanced by the amazing flowers on display.

Another view of the flowers round the pulpit.

One of the beautiful stained glass windows.

We had a really good look round this beautiful little church taking our photos, chatting to the organisers and generally soaking up the lovely atmosphere, and ended our visit by enjoying a cup of tea and a scone sitting in one of the pews.

Real and crocheted flowers in this bouquet.

When we left the church we wandered round the outside then crossed the road to the churchyard, where we saw the little Robin. Our visit was a lovely way to spend a pretty miserable Sunday afternoon.

Deal Classic Car and Motor Show

You may remember that I went to this show a couple of years ago, for some reason I missed last years event, but I did get to this years one. I was very surprised to find that the show is about three times bigger than it was two years ago!

There was a great variety of all sorts of vehicles, plus stalls of various items, and live music. It was a beautiful summer Sunday, and the crowds of people were making the most of the weather, and maybe dreaming about owning one of these beauties Smile

I spent a good hour wandering round, just enjoying the atmosphere and marvelling at the attention some of the cars get from their owners! The homemade Fudge stall and the book stalls got quite a lot of my attention as well as the amazing array of vehicles.

Some of the vehicles on show were amazing even to my untrained  eyes, there was even a DeLorean on show, but there were so many people milling around it that I couldn’t get a good photo.

I really wouldn’t like to say which car I liked the most, but I did see a car very similar to one that my Dad used to have. He owned a 1933 Aero Minx, which is no longer in the family. It was great fun going round the town with my Dad in that car…it even had pump up leather seats!! Happy Days Smile

Walmer, Kent.

The Cafe on the Green, a very popular place Smile

Artwork on the wall of the Cafe.

One lovely evening last month I went for a walk in the area where we live, and thought I would share some photos with you all. Like many people, we see the same sights most days but just now and again we look at our surroundings with new eyes, and we realize how lucky we are to live here!

Fishing boats on the Beach

Feeding the seagulls

There is a promenade which stretches the whole length of the seafront from Sandown in the North to Kingsdown in the South, which I think is about 5 miles in distance, and can be walked the whole way without crossing any roads, so we are very lucky indeed. We can walk to Deal in about 20 minutes from our house, it takes a bit longer to walk to Kingsdown, but whichever way we decide to go it is a lovely walk.

Flags flying from the Beach Huts

The Union Jack flying from the Lifeboat House.

The promenade leading into Deal, the pier can be seen on the right of the photo. The house on the left is unique as being the only house on the promenade.

Looking out to sea. So much sky, and so peaceful Smile

Walmer Lifeboat Station near The Cafe on the Green.

The Porch of St Saviour’s Church with the Lifeboat House.

Just off the seafront are the allotments, I love to see what things are growing here Smile
