Deal Classic Car and Motor Show

You may remember that I went to this show a couple of years ago, for some reason I missed last years event, but I did get to this years one. I was very surprised to find that the show is about three times bigger than it was two years ago!

There was a great variety of all sorts of vehicles, plus stalls of various items, and live music. It was a beautiful summer Sunday, and the crowds of people were making the most of the weather, and maybe dreaming about owning one of these beauties

I spent a good hour wandering round, just enjoying the atmosphere and marvelling at the attention some of the cars get from their owners! The homemade Fudge stall and the book stalls got quite a lot of my attention as well as the amazing array of vehicles.

Some of the vehicles on show were amazing even to my untrained  eyes, there was even a DeLorean on show, but there were so many people milling around it that I couldn’t get a good photo.

I really wouldn’t like to say which car I liked the most, but I did see a car very similar to one that my Dad used to have. He owned a 1933 Aero Minx, which is no longer in the family. It was great fun going round the town with my Dad in that car…it even had pump up leather seats!! Happy Days

One lovely evening last month I went for a walk in the area where we live, and thought I would share some photos with you all. Like many people, we see the same sights most days but just now and again we look at our surroundings with new eyes, and we realize how lucky we are to live here!

There is a promenade which stretches the whole length of the seafront from Sandown in the North to Kingsdown in the South, which I think is about 5 miles in distance, and can be walked the whole way without crossing any roads, so we are very lucky indeed. We can walk to Deal in about 20 minutes from our house, it takes a bit longer to walk to Kingsdown, but whichever way we decide to go it is a lovely walk.

Sand sculptures, Brighton

Last month my friend Sheila and I decided it was time we had another little outing, and as she had heard about the Sand Sculpture exhibition in Brighton we decided to go and see what it was all about.

                                 

                                 

It takes a couple of hours to drive to Brighton so we set off about 9.30 and arrived about lunch time, then drove around until we found the Sand Sculpture at the Eastern end of the beach, near The Marina, and quite close to the nudist beach!! The exhibition had only been open for a day or two, but the sculptures will be on show all through the summer. Apparently the sand used is a particular sort which holds its shape for a long time, even if it rains.

The theme for this year is ‘Around the World’ and, as I am sure you can see from the photos the sculptures are just amazing. I particularly liked the Geisha, but to be honest they were all fantastic, I very much admire the talents of the artists.

We were just about the only visitors, which was great for taking photos and having a really good look at the sculptures.

After we had looked round the exhibition we went on the Volk’s Electric Railway to the Pier, where we enjoyed a brisk walk on the pier, and Fish and Chips in the restaurant at the end of the Pier, which was lovely, and by that time much needed by both of us.

   

   

    

Sheila and I always have a good day out, this was no exception, and we have already decided that we need another day in Brighton to visit the Pavilion, and maybe go on the wheel next to the Pier. I am already looking forward to it
