Although there were a lot of people milling around, the garden was an amazingly peaceful part of the city. I could see in my mind’s eye the ladies in their wonderful costumes sipping tea in the pavilions, and strolling round these wonderful gardens.
My sister in law and I had been walking round the Forbidden City for about 4 hours by the time we got here, so we bought ourselves an ice cream, and sat on a step to eat it. Sitting there gazing over the buildings and the garden, I realized this was one of those perfect moments that come to us now and then. Funny that it should be there at that time, it was great. We both said we would just love to visit these gardens when there was no-one else there, but even so, it was just beautiful.
I still don’t understand why very small parts of buildings have been restored??
A ceiling boss in one of the pavilions, I think the dragon here is great!
This lion looks as if he has been electrocuted lol
I am not sure that my photos can convey the feeling of the garden, but I hope you enjoy them! I look at them and I am back there, sitting on that step! We sat next to the red box to eat our ice creams
The view from the step!!
