Hastings Pier

On Friday we went down to Hastings to have a look at the poor old pier. We have all read about the fire in the papers, and although the pier has been run down for a number of years, surely it did not deserve this fate? It really is a very sad sight, and I do wonder if they will be able to rebuild it, I suppose time alone will tell. One of the shops along the seafront has a model of the pier in its window, as it looked in its heyday, I am sure they will treasure that model now. Luckily the weather stayed dry for us, but it was very cold! We had a good day anyway, and a lovely lunch, along with some retail therapy!

Below are some photos I took, I haven’t figured out how to get the writing under the pics so it appears in the right place, but I am sure I will figure that out one day! Keep warm all and enjoy what is left of the weekend.

  2. What a heartbreaking sight. I have many memories as do so many others of time spent as a child and adult walking along that pier. It is one of those sentimental places that you cannot imagine not being there.
Youngsters were responsible for this arson weren't they.
It is unlikely it will be rebuilt now if Herne Bay and Southend Piers are anything to go by, let alone the item on the news last night about the lack of work and economy in Hastings area that will be tenfold from the new government rulings. Shame.

  3. I too read about it in the papers and in the news, so sad, I think they should get the people who are on benefits [able bodied ] the asbo kids, and offenders, put them to work for a pittance, if anything, to help rebuild it. Such a shame it looks like 9/11
How to put captions under your pics Poppy, which is easy, when you upload it gives you an option of size, also 'caption' if you can't suss that out, it's easy to open your pics in an editing programme and you can put text directly on to them and then upload.
